Oreynia:Writing Guidelines

Welcome, contributor! You've earned the rights to expand the universe of Oreynia! BUT!

Remember, the core universe is already established. Please do not ruin it by breaking the universe’s lore or adding random superpowers. If you add or find an element that can be abused, you must add more constraints and explanations to it. Here are a few things to consider before writing:

• Don't add plot holes & know your limitations: One of the core principles of the Oreynia Universe is to keep it free of the unsatisfying plot holes that have ruined so many great stories. Basically, keep it simple, hence the medieval theme. Please don't add time travel or some kind of dyad in the Force ("That's not how the Force works!" — Han Solo). All magical elements come from spirits, ancient gods and nature, not out of thin air. They like everything else have a cost; energy shall be constant and preserved, even for the ancients. By being a contributor, you should already know the universe’s history, rules, structure, and limitations. Here are two very limiting factors in the universe—do not break them:
  • Metals act like rubber for electricity. This means no lightbulbs or electrical devices can exist.
  • Air and gases can't expand rapidly. No explosive materials like gunpowder and no steam pumps.

• Keep plot armor very low: Simply put, don't write miracles and conveniences. Your favorite character might die. If they are caught up in a bad corner, they most certainly will. This is not Game of Thrones Season 8. We like the early Seasons - Let Ned Stark die, and find a new favorite surviving character.

Creating a Page

The first thing to do when creating a new page is to determine its category: What are you adding to the universe?

• File path must match.
• Category has to be set for the page.
• Layout has to match the category.
